Immanuel Explorers, the all-Immanuel travel club embarked on a 4-day, 3-night adventure to Nashville, Tennessee this fall. The itinerary included a show at the Grand Ole Opry, enjoying the rich music history of Nashville at the Country Music Hall of Fame, toe tapping and twirling during line dancing at the Wildhorse Saloon, a live recording session at the famed RCA Recording Studio B (in the same spot where Elvis Presley stood), and delicious southern BBQ and hospitality at the incredible Gaylord Opryland Resort and Conference Center.
“The best trip I’ve ever been on,” said one resident. Another described the Grand Ole Opry as her first rock concert.
Travel is just one of the ways Immanuel’s new Thrive wellness and life enrichment program are appealing to residents. The Thrive program advocates healthy aging in mind, body and spirit through nine principles that include connection, lifelong learning, music and recreation among others. The Immanuel Explorers, a program in Thrive, is a travel club where residents from any Immanuel Community can participate in trips across the country. The group has traveled to Branson, seen the crane migration, ventured to Las Vegas and set sail on an Alaskan cruise.
In Nashville, we saw new friendships forged and many incredible and memorable moments from 17 resident explorers, one family member, three team members and two travel guides form Travel and Transport.
Additional venues included Puckett’s Grocery and Restaurant, the General Jackson Steamboat and the Delta River Cruise at the hotel.
